My XIMB interview experience

The best interview so far for me..........
had it in st.joseph's colllege 9 am slot on march 3rd......
Reached the place half an hour early and met some real nice guys........ have never
met a friendlier group. The panelists also looked damn friendly and cool. IT was
great that they started the GD dot on time, so sharp that a girl in our group who
came at 9.05 had to join the next group.
The gd topic ----- " Is china a threat to indian industry?" I think i came out very
well, one guy even quipped after the GD that i spoke well and 'looked' a good
speaker.(oops........ was i so good that he called me my name in-between the GD).
Since i was the last in the group, had to wait quite a bit......heard junta were
grilled on acads, me have 42 months work-ex.......
But am so glad that the interview went so well, the best of my performance so
far.....( am glad that i answered almost all the qns.)

p1: so, u have not worked in a chemical engg company at all through out....
me: yes sir, but actually got placed in a software company in campus placement
p1: that isn't a chemical company
me: yes sir, that was the one in the offering in college but couldn't take it up as
they cancelled , then worked in a lens-making company.... in that time my dad was
detected with cancer and i lost him three years back, hence i couldn't shift or try
much
p1: i don't believe it........ i don't think so
me:{was quite taken aback, but kept my cool} u can take my word for it sir, i am as
honest as possible
p1: no sentiments here.......... ok, what's an ideal gas?
me: one that follows PV = nRT
p1:what's a newtonian fluid?
me: {answered almost all the questions correctly in technical except diff. between
bingham plastic and dilactic fluid.........so am posting here only the questions}
p1: what's elasticity?
p1: how will you design a boiler?
p1: what criteria to look before mixing two liquids?
p1: how do you design a drier?
p1: name some unit operations
p1: name some process industries
p1: what's diff between a bingham plastic and dilactic fluid?(didn't know)
p1: what's centrifugal and centripetal force?
p1: what's the floor price of a fertiliser? ( didn't know this too)
after the barrage of technical questions got over, felt quite comfy that i could answer many stuff.......... now p2 asked

p2: what's the lens company u worked for?
me: said "delta" and explained in great length about what i did and learnt there
p2: what do u read?
me: i like salman rushdie sir....... have midnight's children, moor's last sigh
p2: what was the controversy abt satanic verses?
me: haven't read it but i believe it's about sacrilege of mentioning propher muhd with disrespect or something....
p2: what else do u read?
me: oscar wilde, like his short stories, i like "picture of dorian gray" the most and had heard of his plays but not read it......
p3: ok, what's the hoopla abt george bush coming?
me: { i jumped in and went on a great style to explain in good detail abt the energy aspect, india's adv. in signing the nuclear deal, etc.. had prepared so much on this the perv day)..
p3: what other calls ?
me: sir, XL....
ok fine, thank you......
came out feeling very content and positive that i did really well, had a great day.....
the best part was - simplicity of the process and a small group to work, none would feel nervous, quite relaxed & of course not to mention the friendliest crowd i ever met.......
